About — Still Point Yoga Galway
Our studio
Still Point Yoga started because we believed yoga works best in small rooms with few people. Not because small is trendy, but because it's true. A teacher can actually see you, remember your name, and adjust a pose before it becomes a problem. You're not one of thirty mats. You're a person learning to move well.
We're independent, rooted in Galway, and we've kept it that way on purpose. That means we choose who teaches here, how long we run a class, and whether a session feels right — or whether we scrap it and try again.
Why we cap at twelve
Twelve people is the threshold where a teacher stops teaching a class and starts teaching you. Below that, they notice if your shoulders creep up in Downward Dog. They can walk over and gently shift your hips. They remember that you mentioned a sore knee last week and offer you a modification without being asked.
It also means you're not squinting at someone else's mat or waiting three minutes for a turn at the prop shelf. There's space to breathe, literally and figuratively.
Our approach
Energising mornings
Our early vinyasas move with breath and intention, building heat and focus to carry you through the day. Not rushed, but purposeful.
Building blocks
Beginner and improver classes teach the foundations clearly, with time to understand each pose rather than just flowing through it. You leave knowing what you learned.
Evening recovery
Restorative and yin sessions slow everything down. You leave calmer than you arrived, carrying that peace into your evening and beyond.
Going deeper
Monthly workshops let us explore a single pose, a breathing technique, or a theme thoroughly — something impossible in a regular class.
We offer a real mix because you're a real person with different needs on different days. Some mornings you need energy. Some evenings you need to unwind. We meet you where you are.
Rooted in Galway
Still Point Yoga is part of this city — woven into the streets where locals walk to work and visitors arrive curious about what they'll find.
We welcome people building a regular practice here, showing up week after week to understand their own body. We also welcome people passing through Galway, looking for an hour of calm in the middle of travel. Both matter equally.
There's nothing austere or precious about what we do. You don't need to have done yoga before. You don't need special clothes or a background in flexibility. You just need to want to try, and an hour on a Tuesday evening.
